Members & Roles
Who can access your organisation and what each role can do.
The Members page lists everyone with access to your organisation and the role each person holds. A role decides what someone is allowed to do.
The three roles
| Role | What it can do |
|---|---|
| Owner | Everything. Full control of the organisation, including managing members. |
| Administrator | Manage alerts and organisation settings. Cannot manage members. |
| Member | View-only. Can see devices, dashboards, measurements, alerts, and events, but can't change them. |
In short: Owners run the organisation, Administrators keep it configured, and Members keep an eye on things.
What each role unlocks
| Action | Owner | Administrator | Member |
|---|---|---|---|
| View devices, dashboards, measurements, events | ✓ | ✓ | ✓ |
| Create and edit alerts | ✓ | ✓ | — |
| Edit organisation settings | ✓ | ✓ | — |
| Manage members & roles | ✓ | — | — |
Roles are per organisation. The same person can be an Owner in one organisation and a Member in another — your permissions always reflect the organisation you're currently viewing.
Viewing members
- Open Organisation settings from the account menu.
- Go to the Members tab.
- You'll see each member's name and role.
Changing a member's role
If you're an Owner, you can change a member's role directly from the Members list — for example promoting a Member to Administrator. Pick the new role next to their name and save.
Adding or removing people
Adding brand-new people to the organisation, and removing them entirely, is handled by your platform administrator. Ask them to send an invitation or revoke access.
Give people the least access they need. Most users are happy as Members (view-only); reserve Administrator for those who maintain alerts, and Owner for the few who run the organisation.
