Widgets
Add, configure, and remove the panels that make up a dashboard.
Widgets are the building blocks of a dashboard. Each one displays data from a single device and metric, drawn in the style you choose. A dashboard is simply a collection of widgets arranged on a page.
Adding a widget
- Open a dashboard and click Add widget.
- Choose the device you want to show.
- Choose the metric from that device (for example Temperature).
- Pick a widget type (see the table below).
- Adjust any type-specific options (colours, time range, thresholds).
- Click Add.
The widget appears on the dashboard immediately and starts updating live.
Widget types
Pick the type that best fits the kind of value you're showing:
| Type | Best for | Example |
|---|---|---|
| Last value | Showing the single most recent reading in large, easy-to-read text, with its unit and time. | "23.4 °C — 2 minutes ago" |
| Chart | Watching a trend over time as a line graph. Supports a selectable time range and aggregation. | Temperature over the last 7 days |
| Level | Showing a value as a filling bar or gauge, ideal for percentages and capacities. | A water tank at 65% |
| Boolean | Showing an on/off, open/closed, or true/false state as a clear indicator. | A door: Open / Closed |
Arranging widgets
Drag widgets around the dashboard to lay them out the way you like. Because the dashboard is shared, the layout you set is the layout your colleagues see.
Editing or removing a widget
- Hover over a widget and click its settings icon.
- Change the configuration and click Save, or click Remove to delete the widget from the dashboard.
Want to change a chart's colour or time range only on your own screen without affecting teammates? That's widget personalisation.
Removing a widget only takes it off the dashboard. It never deletes the underlying device or its measurements.
