Devices
View every device in your organisation and open its details.
A device is a physical piece of hardware — a sensor or an actuator — registered in your organisation. Examples include a temperature probe, a water-level sensor, or a smart switch. Each device sends readings to rabbit | iot, where they become measurements you can chart and watch.
Open the device list by clicking Devices in the sidebar.
The device list
The list shows every device with, at a glance:
- Name — the friendly name your administrator gave it
- Status — a coloured indicator: online, offline, or alerting (see Device Status)
- Zone — the area it belongs to, if any
- Last seen — when it last reported data
Type in the search box to filter the list by name. Scroll down to load more devices automatically.
Opening a device
Click any device to open its detail panel, which slides in from the side. There you can see its current status, its metrics, and jump into the full measurement history. See Device Details for a full tour.
Devices are added and configured by your administrator. If a device is missing from the list, ask them to register it. You can view devices regardless of your role.
Where else devices appear
- On the Map, plotted at their physical location.
- On your Dashboards, inside widgets.
- In Alerts, as the thing a rule is watching.
